1. Study
using the “Now Your Talking” Book or the “Gordon West” Book
2. Watch
the W5YI Tape in school or
take a W5YI Tape home (2hrs) (see Mr. Benko or Mike Egler).
3. Download
the zip file “nutest.zip” here (WinZip
required- download here if needed) or…
or… Take a “Nu-Test”
CD home with you (see Mr. Benko or Mike Egler) and
place in your CD-ROM drive.
a. Run
the program named
“Nu-Test.exe” (see screenshot)
b. Under the
“Options” tab, then in the “Mode” box, Select “Browse Question Pool” (see screenshot)
c. In the “Show correct option” box make
sure a check is on “During question display” (see screenshot)
d.
Click the “Tests” tab and begin memorizing questions and answers. (see
screenshot)
Only when
you feel you know many of the answers of the ENTIRE pool, go back to the
“Options” tab
a. In the “Show correct option” box make
sure a check is only on “After question
display”
and click “Use Sound Effects” in the top
right of the window (see screenshot)
b. Each
question will “ding” if correct or “bloop” if
incorrect. Any missed questions should be reviewed
by clicking on
the blue arrow button that points to the left. (see
screenshot)
c. If you
don’t understand why the question is answered a certain way, look up the
question in your book
by the question #
(left and directly below answers) or simply hit “Explain” (to the right of the
blue buttons.)
d.
Continue browsing the pool, answering questions, and when
it seems you know >80% of the ENTIRE pool try a test.
e. DON’T
use Nu-test for practice testing, it doesn’t
randomize the questions enough—instead….
4. Take
practice test at www.aa9pw.com
a.
Click on “FCC Amateur Radio Practice
Exams”
b. Click on the dot window for “Technician”
so it has a dot – Then click on “Take Exam” (both on left)
TAKE THE TEST ! It will break down results by section.
a. Those you do poorly in, go back to
“Nu-Test” and only select those sections in which you are weak by
using the “Move
to next section” blue button (Right arrow with the line along the left). Watch
the sections
advance by
watching the question #’s (left and directly below answers)— T0xxx=Section 0, T1xxx=Section
1
T2xxx=Section 2, and so on.
b. Re-study and when
you feel improved in those sections, retest at www.aa9pw.com
.
c.
You need a 75% or better overall to pass your
license.
d. 3
days before you must be able to pass a test.
e. 2 days before you must be
able to pass 3 consecutive tests.
f. 1
day before you must be able to pass 5 consecutive
tests.

At the testing session, you need…
1. Picture ID (or a yearbook with a
clear photo and caption that ID’s you)
2. 2nd form of ID
3. Your Social Security Number.

CANNOT BE LATE !!!!!!!!!!
